Enter the Bathing Beauties Beautiful Beach Hut Competitions and be part of the first Festival of Bathing Beauties (Sat 22 - Sun 23 Sept 2007), the UK's only Beach Hut Festival! Join in the launch of this linear outdoor gallery of seaside architecture on the beautiful Lincolnshire coast, UK with events taking place including official openings of award-winning bold new Bathing Beauties huts, open-huts, temporary installations and mini performances.

HOW TO ENTER
To enter the Bathing Beauties Beautiful Beach Hut Competition: Judging Sat 22 Sept 2007
ELIGIBILITY AND RULES: Note that this competition is ONLY open to private owners of existing huts between Mablethorpe and Chapel St Leonards on the Lincolnshire coast, UK: It's Free and It's Fun!
In all competitions, judges will be looking for quality, innovation and individuality. The judging panel is yet to be announced and awards will take place at 6pm on Sat 22 Sept, 2007 on Mablethorpe pullover, Lincolnshire, UK.
1. DECIDE which Beautiful Beach Hut Competition you wish to enter (you may enter one or more).
2. PREPARE your design and start to plan your decoration (remember judges will be looking for
quality, innovation and individuality).
3. REGISTER your hut and which competitions you are entering - there are three ways to do this:

Post the information above on a postcard to Bathing Beauties, PO Box 4203, Manchester M60 1SP
Register your hut at 10.30am on Sat 22 Sept 2007 at the Mablethorpe pullover, Lincolnshire, UK.

Bathing Beauties International Competitions: WINNING DESIGNS FOR FULL-SCALE CONSTRUCTION

Competition 1: Re-imagining the Beach Hut WINNERS
Over 240 scale models were entered by artists and architects from 15 countries in response to the first Bathing Beauties Competitions launched in 2006. Ideas range from whimsical follies to creative exercises in space, light and line, the first Bathing Beauties competition elicited one of the most exciting responses to any architectural competition this century.
The competition was judged by a panel of experts and all entrants details were kept anonymous until the winning designs had been selected. The four winners each of whom won £1,500 for their winning designs and a commission of £20,000 pounds sterling to build their hut in Summer 2007 are:
Atelier NU, Montreal (Quebec) Canada for 'Halcyon Beach Hut'
Feix&Merlin, London, UK for 'Eyes Wide sHut'
'i-am' associates, London, UK for 'Jabba'
we made that, London, UK for 'A Hut for Gazing and Canoodling'
These huts which belong to East Lindsey District Council, will be officially launched
on Sat 22 Sept and advance bookings for daily hire for 2008 will open.
Additional winner for best scale model who received £500 pounds sterling prize:
Thurgood Hobson Design, London, UK for their model 'Lazy Susan'.

Bathing Beauties International Competitions
Art meets Architecture on the Lincolnshire coast, UK.
Competition 2: Beach Front Restaurant / Boathouse WINNING DESIGNS
Over 70 entries for a second international architecture competition launched in 2006 were received to design a Beach Front Restaurant / Boathouse for a site at Chapel St. Leonards, Lincolnshire, UK. The winning design was entered by:
Robert Cody of Amoia Cody Architects, New York, USA for 'Architectural Lines in the Sand'.
Runner up prize:
Paul Jones and Ceri Green with Northumbria University, UK.
Funding is currently being sought to realise the winning design scheme.

The judging panel for both Bathing Beauties international competitions included:
Simon Conder (Architect, Simon Conder Associates), Dr. Kathryn Ferry (Architectural Historian and beach hut expert), Michael Trainor (Lead Artist). The panel also included Nigel Howells, Chief Executive East Lindsey District Council and John Cairns from Arts Council England amongst others.
The Lincolnshire coast will be the first area in the UK to see significant re-imagining of traditional seaside architecture - the innovative linear gallery will unfold over a period of two to three years. The Lincolnshire Coastal Art Project is led by Michael Trainor and part-funded by European Regional Development Fund. Partners are Lincolnshire County Council, East Lindsey District Council and the local parish councils
